Board of Students Development

Board of Students Development of Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir’s Loknete Vyankatrao Hiray Arts, Science and Commerce College, Panchavati, Nashik has been one of the active departments in the college. It has implemented various welfare schemes for the overall development of the students of our college. It has been a mediator to communicate various Central and State Government & other schemes to the students. At the same time it has availed information of various scholarship schemes to the students and encourages them for the benefit of such schemes. It has facilitated the participation of the students in the intercollegiate and inter-university competitions. Various student-centric activities were organized by the Board of Students Development keeping in view the interest of the students. Various programs were conducted as per the circulars issued by the Board of Student Development, S.P.P.U, Pune as well as the government.

Board of Students Development of our college regularly conducts following programmes:

A] Karmaveer Bhaurav Patil Earn and Learn Scheme:

Every year Board of Students Development organizes a ‘Karmaveer Bhaurav Patil Earn and Learn Scheme’ in association with Board of Students Development, S. P. P. University, Pune. The scheme avails earning opportunities to the poor and needy students in the College campus itself so that they may secure their higher education without taking economic burden. The best feature of the scheme is that it supports students financially and facilitates earning while learning. In this scheme students were assigned different work such as Book keeping, Filling, Cleaning, Documentation, etc. at different departments and sections.

B] “Nirbhay Kanya Abhiyan”:

Nibhay Kanya Abhiyaan is one of the important schemes run by Board of Students Development to develop the confidence and personality of a lady student who comes from the rural areas and are deprived sections of society. The marginalization and deprivation is double if you are a woman and from the backward or scheduled castes. The main objective of this scheme is to develop a critical mind, self-confidence and a commitment to society. The lady students are given training in health, law, and social activities. They are also given training in self-employment and all possible other activities that enhance her social confidence.

C] Disaster Management Workshop:

In order to prevent accidents and hazards, preparing for actions to be taken at the time of disaster, assessing the damage caused and providing relief to the affected people, students must be trained for such things. Disaster Management Workshops are organized every year by Board of Students Development for the students to make them aware and train against the disasters.

D] Other Programmes:

Board of Students Development, S.P.P.U., Pune provides a special grants to conduct various activities such as A Special Lecture, Workshops, Training Programmes, Cultural Activities and Competitions. Every year we organizes the programme as per the need of the students.

List of programmes were organized in the Academic Year 2021-22:

A Three-Day International e-Conference on "Platinum Jubilee of Indian Independence: Relevance of Gandhian Ideology": from 1st October to 3rd October 2021

On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Year of the college and the Platinum Jubilee Year of the India’s independence, a three-day International e-conference was jointly organized by the Board of Student Development, Gandhian Study Center, Department of History and Board of Studies History (S.P.P.U., Pune). This conference was held from 1st October to 3rd October 2021 on occasion of Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The theme of the conference was "Platinum Jubilee of Indian Independence: Relevance of Gandhian Ideology". The conference was inaugurated by Hon'ble Shri. Tusharji Gandhi. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the need for contemporary Gandhian thought. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Hon’ble Dr. Appoorva Prashant Hiray (Ex-MLC and Co-ordinator, M.G.Vidyamandir,Nashik). A total of 87 research papers based on Gandhian thought were received on this occasion. The articles received in this conference were published in the form of book entitled “Platinum Jubilee of Indian Independence: Relevance of Gandhian Ideology”. In addition, on the occasion of the inauguration program, the publication of Abstract Book was done by Hon. Mr. Tushar Gandhi. More than 300 participants attended the conference.

“Sahitya Lekhan Karyshala va Prastuti”: 27th April, 2022


Board of Students Development of the college in collaboration with Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune organized state level programme “Sahitya Lekhan Karyshala va Prastuti” on. Under this programme State Level Competitions on Poetry, Oratory, Debate, Elocution and Quiz Competition were organized. 162 students from different parts of state participated in this programme. Cash prizes were given for each competition First Prize- Rs. 5000/- and Memento, Second Prize- Rs. 3000/- and Memento and Third Prize-Rs. 2000/-. Altogether Rs. 50,000/- cash prizes were given to the successful participants. Two separate judges for each competitions were appointed. The programme was inaugurated by Honourable Vice-Chancellor of S.P.P.U, Pune Dr. Nitin Karmalkar. Honourable Dr. Prashant Hiray was the president of Inauguration Ceremony (Ex-Minister of State and General Secretary, M.G.Vidyamandir, Nashik). Honourable Dr. Santosh Parchure (Director, Board of Students Development, S.P.P.U., Pune) was present. Dr. Karmalkar motivated and given a best wishes to the students. For the valedictory function Honourable Mr. Milind Kulkarni (Editor, Daily Lokmat, Nashik) was the Chief Guest. Honourable Sampada (Didi) Hiray, Trustee, M.G.Vidyamandir, Nashik was the president of the function. Mr. Kulkarni guided the students on this occasion. Principal of the college Dr. B. S. Jagdale had given introduction. Dr. R. V. Patil, Student Welfare Officer had delivered a report of the programme. Prizes were distributed by the hands of the dignitaries on the dais. Feedback were collected from the participants.

'Mission Youth Health Campaign' – 28th October, 2021:

As per the instructions of the Department of Higher and Technical Education and Health of the Government of Maharashtra, under the 'Mission Youth Health Campaign', COVID-19 Preventive Vaccination Campaign for college students was implemented on 28th October 2021. Principal of the college Dr. B. S. Jagdale inaugurated the campaign. The medical officers of Nashik Municipal Corporation and their team were present for the campaign. More than 50 students and staff vaccinated during the campaign.

The Malabar Charitable Trust Scholarship Distribution Ceremony-18th December, 2021:

On The Malabar Charitable Trust Scholarship Distribution Ceremony was organized by Board of Students Development of our college. The Malabar Charitable Trust sanctioned and donated a scholarship of Rs 16,00,000/- (Rs. Sixteen Lakh) under CSR Fund. Malabar Charitable Trust had given scholarships of Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 to 180 students.
