Message from Principal’s Desk:

Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir’s Loknete Vyankatrao Hiray Arts, Science and Commerce College, Panchavati, Nashik is one of the pioneer educational institutes in Maharashtra. Today with the distinguished achievement of the Best College Award of Savitribai Phule Pune University and reaccredited with ‘A’ Garde the college is the most acclaimed one in Nashik District. The college follows the motto of its parent institute MGV ‘Bahujan Hitay, Bahujan Sukhay (comprehensive welfare) in its true spirit. Accordingly, it has been treading on the path directed by the founder of the institute late Karmaveer Bhausaheb Hiray known as the sculptor of modern Maharashtra, a visionary educationalist, freedom fighter and the pioneer of the Tenancy Act of 1957. Our vision is विद्याविनियोगात्विकासः which means ‘progress comes with the proper application of knowledge’. We are committed towards dedicated efforts for grooming students with proper application of knowledge and skills. For the last 50 years, the college has been exclusively devoted to the education of the tribal and segregated class of society and taking every effort to bring them into the mainstream of education. Qualified and research-oriented faculty is the backbone of the college.

Along with traditional education, our college provides advanced, job-oriented education to students. The college runs three years of integrated vocational courses (B.Voc.), short-term Certificate Courses, many Add-ons and Value-added courses, and online courses through MOOC and NPTEL Platforms. There is also ‘A’ Grade accredited Skill Development Centre of NSDC to develop various skills of the students. To enhance the digital literacy of the students we facilitate free-of-cost computer training. We have a well-equipped library with national and international collaboration that avails multiple reference books, e-books and e-journals and a vast repository of e-content.

Identifying the need for research and innovation the college has initiated 11 Research Centers in various disciplines through which 145 students are pursuing research in their respective disciplines. To develop R&D culture in the college we conducted the Late Loknete Vyankatrao Hiray Inno-fest competition which proved to be a platform for innovation, incubation, linkage and startup. We have a tie-up through MOU with Government projects like C-MET through which we expose our students to advanced research and avail opportunities for internship and placement.

The college has already taken measures toward the implementation of the New Education Policy 2020. The college has a center for Open and Distance Learning (ODL) of SPPU and YCMOU, We avail academic flexibility and facilitate students with Academic Bank of Credit (ABC). We also facilitate interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, digital education as well as preserve Indian Knowledge System and Indian regional languages through B. Voc program in Film Art.

We have special cells and schemes for the empowerment of female students. Last year we could avail of a scholarship of Rs.16,14000 to 180 girl- students on behalf of the Malabar Gold charitable trust. Our Sports -students have landmark achievements at national and international levels. Through our extension activities, we continuously try to reach out to the native society to resolve its various issues. We have a membership of Rotary International and linkage with industry and NGOs through which we conduct many outreach activities. Thus, the college practices innovations, research and extension of all three norms of higher education in all respect. We work under the guidance of the General Secretary of Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir Hon’ble Dr. Prashant V.
